Koala

 

Hi everyone, at this time i am going to talk about an animal that i like, first of all it is difficult to me chose one, because i think that i have never think about which animal i like or i think that is interesting, but i chose koala. Koalas are often called bears because they look like teddy bears, but they are actually marsupials. like other marsupials, the female has a pouch where she carries her baby, called a joey, for several months after birth. When a joey is strong enough to cling to its mother´s back, it leaves the pouch but still sticks its head in to nurse. Koalas are known as picky eaters. they eat eucayptus, but just a few dozen kinds of the hundreds that exist. they know what´s best. 
80 percent of koala habitat has been lost to human homes and businesses, drought, and fires. that makes life hard for an animal that need the forest to survive. Also, koalas are at risk when a settlement of people is near, because they being killed by cars, dogs and human. We have to protect them and all nature! 

Norman

 There was a woman and her son Norman. They used to live in somewhere else, but they moved to White Pine Bay because the father died. The mom just wanted to start their lives again, so she opened a Motel, everything was going well, but there was only one problem that the mom could not solve, and that she was trying to hide, her son had blackouts. He could not control them, and the worst part of this, is that this blackouts made him a violent and unconscious person, and after each episode, he doesn`t remember anything. This is how he kill his father, his friend`s father and his teacher, but he never know nothing about those crimes. Mom was accomplice of all this, but she did not said anything to police, because she wanted to protect his son, he was only 17, and she did not want her son go to jail. But she could not protect him forever, there was a policeman, that wanted to know the truth, but that could not change anything. Because he was a corrupt man. So nothing will change, Norman will still having these blackouts, mom will protect him, and he will kill more people, who knows how many.  

The Upcoming Summer

First of all, I want to go home, it has been a long year and I want to be in my house with my family, or part of them, i missed them. I have not thought what i am going to do on summer, probably i will travel with my parents to some place for some days, but i don`t know where yet. i want to go to my field, my parent`s field actually, it is the best place to relax and disconnect of everything for some days and also visit my family.
However, i don`t know when the semester will finish, it depends of my notes and the exams, so probably i will be in Santiago all December. After that, I want to work in january to save some money to go somewhere, i have not even thought where, but i want to go with my friends, because every summer we go somewhere. 
Truly, i am not a person who plans all the things that i am going to do, so it is dfificult to make a summer plan, that is why i want to work and have the money, and then decide what to do, because i don`t like to ask for money to my parents for those kind of things, because they spend a lot of money in me, while i am studing during the year here in Santiago. 
I just want to have a nice summer with my family and my friends. 

A skill I admire

Hi, I have to say that an ability that I really admire it is cooking, and I think that is a great skill. I like to cook, i enyoy it, and that is why I would like to cook well, I mean, i know cook ,but easiest things. I think is great because food gathers the people, and who do not like to eat, and that is why is hepful, with someone who knows cook, you never be hungry and you can use food to conquer someone.

Hi, at this time i am going to talk about a photograph I like, that it`s actually one picture that i just posted in a preview session of my favorite holidays, when I traveled with my family, mom and two brothers, to Chilean Patagonia, and we meet with my sister there, because she worked in Puerto Williams, we toured the most famous places like Torres del Paine, Punta Arenas, Glaciar Grey, Fuerte Bulnes. This trip was in 2012, and I really enjoyed it  because it was a place that I did not know and second because I was with my family.

The photograph was taken by my sister`s exboyfriend in Puerto Williams, on the photo are from left to right my sister, my mom, me and my two brothers. 

Were two very exhausting weeks, but full of beautiful places and landscapes, we toured many places that I cannot remember, but I will not forget how wonderful they are. It is my favorite because is one of the few moments that we have together, because we all live in different places, for study or work, and we get together once or twice a year, in fact, my father is not on the photo because he did not travel with us. 

My dream job

Hi everyone, at this time I am going to talk about my dream job. I am working for my dream job, because it is the career that I am studying now, dentistry. I want to use my profession to help people, I think that a healthy smile can confort anyone, it makes a more confident person and let them express themselves without problems, that is my first dream. After graduating from dentistry, I want that my first job would be at the southern of Chile in some rural place for some years, to have a real contact with the people, with my patients, and at the same time I can live in a peaceful place, away from the city. But also, I want to use my profession and the money I will get from it, to do other things.

I do not always want to be a dentist, like everyone, when I was a kid a dreamed of been a doctor, astronomer, but what I really liked and I still like to do is cook, so i think that my dream job would be chef. With that job I could travel around the world doing what I like to do, like always I wanted, learning about other cultures, learning recipes, and meeting people. 

Friends

Hi everyone, at this time I am going to talk about friends, my friends. I think that friends are a very important part of my life, I don´t know if all of you think as me, but a friend is like a support, in whom you can trust, and share many moments and experiences together that you feel them like your brother or your sister.
I think that i have good friends, not many, but good friends, that I have met at school, when I lived in Puerto Montt, in some groups in college, when I was in Bachillerato and now that I study dentistry. they are very good people, all of them. My two best friends are from school and both of them, come to study to Santiago like me, and I love it, thay have been a good support to me. I really like to spend time with my friends, hang out with them whenever I can, even when sometimes I can´t, but I do it anyway, to talk or to drink something. Be with them is the best part of the weekend and come to college.

My favorite technology

Hi, at this time I am going to write about my favorite technology, this is my tablet. although I have not many technological devices, i think that my tablet is my favorite, more than my cell phone. Why? first of all, i bought the tablet this year, so it is relatively new, and it works really well because of that. I like it because is portable, I can bring it with me wherever I go, it can conect to internet, so I can used for search information on web to study, can have social apps to comunicate with my friends and with my family, and diferents apps to study, to play, to listen music, take photos, to whatch movies and many things. I think the best of all, is that I can use to study, can download the classes, books, images, I can write documents, do PPT, I can use it in classes, laboratories and everywhere. I used even more than my cellphone and my laptop, because the battery lasts longer, and it is not too big, not heavy and I love it. 

My favorite holidays

Hi, at this time I am going to write about my favorite holidays until now, when my family and I traveled to Chilean Patagonia, where my sister worked, in Puerto Williams, the southernmost town in the world, and yes it is in Chile. That trip was in 2012, and it has been one of my favorites because I traveled with my family, my mom and my two other brothers, and we met with my sister there. 

I really enjoyed this trip, first because it was a place that I did not know and second because I was with my family, were two very exhausting weeks, but full of beautiful places and landscapes, we met Torres del Paine, Puerto Natales, Glaciar Grey, Punta Arenas, Fuerte Bulnes, and many places that I cannot remember the names now, but I will not forget how wonderful they are. It is my favorite because is one of the few moments that we have together, because we all live in different places, for study or work, and we get together once or twice a year.

I would really like to visit England, it has been my dream since I was like 10 years old or maybe before, when I liked to see and study the world map, and I investigated about England and United Kingdom, and I liked England history and you can be witness of that all over the cities, in the architecture, monuments, museums, and I like that the climate is very similar to Puerto Montt`s climate, where I am from. Like i said, when I was a kid I liked to investigate about contries, reading and seeing pictures, so I think I know enough to know that I like England. There, I would like to visit as many places I can in London, like London Eye, Big Ben, take the train to Paris, Buckingham Palace, drink england tea, go to Stonhenge, go to a party. I would like to study in England, maybe an exchange, but I would not live there, because I heard that it is an expensive country.  

Evaluation of my blogging experience

I think this activity helped me to develop my writing skills, because had long time without practicing English, especially writing, which helps me learn or remember grammar and spelling that I had forgotten from school. 

the truth I had never before written a blog, by compulsion or for wanting to do, so at first it was a bit strange to write about myself so publicly, although not many people see it. But then I liked the idea of writing a blog because every time I made it easier to write in English, remembering the school and learning new vocabulary in each blogg sesion and classes. 

In the future I wish there was more free theme sessions to talk about what you want, so we can better develop an idea and even write more, but also having sessions with topics proposed initially for guidance on how to make the blog.

I would like to write about things you like to do, places we would like to visit or have already visited, experiences, college, or dreams as in a session, themes on which we have always thought and allow us to express ourselves better and write more developing with that writing skills.

My dreams

There so many things that I want to do with my life. My first dream was study dentistry and now I am doing that, so the first step is given. I want to use my profession to help people, I think that a healthy smile can confort anyone, it makes a more confident person and let them express themselves without problems, that is my first dream. Another dream is to cook, or at least to cook well,  I have always loved cooking. I want to use my profession and the money I will get from it, to be a cook, travel around the world, and do the things that I always wanted to do. 

I do not expect that my life change completely, I just want to do the thing that I want to do, maybe I would be more independent, i would have my own money and work for it, and definitely very happy. But to make my dreams come true I have to work hard, study hard and strive as much as possible. First I have to be a dentist, and then think about what I want to do, starting to go to work to southern Chile for a few years.

This website have three principal sections: serial browsing, article browsing and reports, and have the opction of three leanguages: spanish, english and portuguese. Currently in SciELO are involved the following countries: Chile, Argentina,Brasil, Chile, Colombia,Cuba, España, Portugal y Venezuela. 
I visit the website every time I need information about a scientific topics, i do not really how times are these, but I think once a week at least, may be less or more. I like it because it is very dependable and secure, and have bibliographic support, so I can really trust on the information.  

My favorite photograph

This photograph was taken by my sister´s boyfriend, when me and my family travel to chilean patagonia, where my sister work, in Puerto Williams, the southernmost town in the world, and yes it is in Chile. That trip was in 2012, and it has been one of my favorites because I traveled with my family, my mom and my two other brothers, and we met with my sister.

People`s vices

Nowadays, the bad habits are part of our life, and these bad habits affect our entire body including the mouth. We not always care about the dental health, and vices like smoking, alcohol or fat food, are causes of dental diseases. On the teeth, a bacterial biofilm is created, that we have to break with brushing and flossing, to avoid dental diseases.
My main vice is smoking. I started to smoke at age 17, but this year i have been smoking much more, until a couple of weeks ago, because I decided to quit gradually, so now i do not buy cigarretes, and I smoke between 1 to 5 cigarrettes in a week, which it is much less than before, and now i feel much better, so I take care of my dental health, specially now that I study dentistry.

Favourite piece of technology

My favorite piece of technology is my tablet. I had a tablet like three years ago but then i do not use it anymore, but now, three days ago, I bought a new tablet and I like it a lot, because I can download many apps, that I could not have in my cellphone, because my cellphone it is too old. I use it like 2 or 3 hours a day, because I can study with it, play games, have social apps to comunicate with my family and friends in Puerto Montt, take photos, listen music and many things. I like it because is very portable, I can bring it with me wherever I go. I think if I do not had the tablet my life would be the same, because there are other technologies or devices that can do all the things that tablet do. 

Expectations for a new semester

This semester I have five subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Anatomy, Biology, and English, some of theam are very hard for me like Physics and Anatomy, so I have to study harder, the others subjects are easier for me, maybe because I like them more.

I have to take just one extracurricular course called "Society and Culture", I think that it is very interesting, we see movies and when we finish that unit, we are going to continue with "orchard". 

First, I expect to approve all my subjects this semester, and learn of course, I want to enjoy this time at university, shared with my friends and in the end of semester, I want to go home with my family and have a nice time with them. 

Blog Session 1, My Auto Biography

Hi, my name is Gabriel Ojeda Uribe, I`m 19 years old, I was born on december 3rd in Puerto Montt and I lived there all my life, but now since 2014, I live in Santiago because I study Dentistry here, in Universidad de Chile.  I have a sister and two brothers, all of them older than me. Their names are Tamara, Sebastián and Diego, and my mother`s name is Silvia. I studied elementary, middle and high school in Colegio Arriarán Barros. It was a little difficult to leave my house in Puerto Montt in the beginning but now, I really like to live in Santiago, it is a big city and there are many different things to do, and i like to live alone too, I´ve made many friends last year and this year, and some friends from Puerto Montt study in Santiago too, so I`m not really alone here. Well, I like to ride bike and tour the city, be with my friends and live in peace.
